In the weeks following the attack on the World Trade Towers, the families and friends of those lost posted “Missing” notices around the city, asking readers to please contact them if they had seen this person or had any information.  The psychology of this was deeply moving.   Many New Yorkers spent hours carefully reading poster after poster, word by word.  The families themselves, touchingly, persisted for weeks in posting these notices and in using the word “Missing” , even though it soon became obvious to others that those missing were dead. The papers partially hidden here echo the papers floating through the air and smoke of the large smoke image on the left side of the mural.
